First Essay

Now that the first essay is done, I will take some time to talk about how I was able to put the ideas together and some potential problems I faced when doing the research. The entire time I wanted to do some sort of research on technology. I got the idea from a discussion post that one of my fellow students posted. I have always been interested in technology and the advancements that have followed. If you think about it computers didn't start appearing in homes until the early to mid 80s and the Internet didn't grace us with our presence until the 90s. In the last 20 years or so society has advanced exponentially in technology. Technology is a part of our every day lives, and it changes the way that we live. The goal of my research project is to show what kind of a reaction technology has had on people.

I could only use a few of the sources. Ironically the source titled Technology had very little information that helped me. I used a few quotes from my sources that I used to build on. The small assignments, blog posts, and discussion posts were very helpful in getting my first essay going. One thing that really helped was the conference that I had. The conference was a good way to get my questions answered one by one and in a private manner. The conclusion from the meeting was I needed to add more support to my citations. While I was writing I knew all along that I needed more support for my citation, but I didn't know how. The conference really helped me and I was given good information to help support my topic.

I felt handcuffed by only using sources derived from the NEP. It was a challenge to get the information that I needed using only the sources we were allowed to use. Now that we can use different sources I will be able to fine tune my research and get more information that is better related to my research topic.
